So, for those of us who are not walking Biblical texts ,I thought you might like to look at some verses. I got a request for verses on emotional purity. If anyone has good verses PLEASE post them in the comments below!
You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find verses on "EP". I'm sure there are a bunch, but I just don't know the right words to find them... I asked several girls and here is what we came up with:
1 Corinthians 7:32-34
"But I want you to be free from concern. One who is unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, and {his interests} are divided. The woman who is unmarried, and the virgin, is concerned about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how she may please her husband."
I'd say this applies to your first needs. While you are unmarried, if God suddenly calls you to the heart of Africa for 3 months you can get up and go. You have no ties that need to be taken care of (i.e. how you are going to feed your family).
Proverbs 4:23
"Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it {flow} the springs of life."
This one's easy. "From your thoughts spring your emotions, your emotions trigger your desires, from your desires come your actions." -King Victorious Watch over your heart because it bears great (though, not complete) influence over you.
Jeremiah 17:9
"The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?"
This is one of my favorites (how many times have you heard "follow your heart"?) Once again, beware of your heart and your feelings. They are fickle and subject to dramatic change. Never trust them.
Status:
Hello, my name is Christine Ericson. This blog is so I might add my voice to the thousands of Christians who wish to speak out on their beliefs. I want to encourage those out there who, "have not bowed their knee to Baal," and to remind everyone that God's ultimate Will will be done.

Sunshine after Rain
Bring me the sunshine!
Bring me the light!
The rays warm my heart; they warm my soul.
The darkest night is followed by the brightest day.
No matter how bleak the storm,
And no matter how loud the thunder,
The sun will always break through...
Isn't it interesting how whenever we are at our deepest lows we see God the clearest? It is when we become comfortable that we loose sight of God. "Thanks, God, but I can take it from here," say our minds, but that is our greatest problem. How many have heard the phrase, "It was the best of times. It was the worst of times"? Charles Dickens wrote that at the beginning of his story A Tale of Two Cities. How can you have both the best and worst of times? Look at our world today: the average family has a house, two cars, a flat screen TV, more than one computer... Look at our world today: abortion is legal, teen pregnancy is at an all time high, murders run rampant, drugs are sold on nearly every street corner... From "EARTH'S" perspective we've got it all together, but from God's perspective, we couldn't be more lost.
We are headed for the tribulation. The destruction of humanity. Things can't get any darker. They cannot get anymore hopeless. But, "The night is always darkest just before the dawn," and the closer we get to the tribulation, the closer we get to Jesus' second coming -- the Triumphant Entry! Do not loose hope, brother's and sisters. Even in the dark there is hope!
I close my eyes and fear to open them.
What will I see?
Destruction? Famine? Earth is in ruins...
A light shocks my eyes open and I see,
I see a gleaming king on a gleaming horse
A shining army rides behind Him.
I lift my arms and am taken up to Him.
He says, "You called on Me and I answered."
Bring me the light!
The rays warm my heart; they warm my soul.
The darkest night is followed by the brightest day.

What thoughts are in my head...
I'm always here.
I'm always waiting.
I'm always wondering what you're doing.
I wonder what you look like.
I wonder where you are.
I wonder what we will do together.
I think about what I'd like to share with you.
I think about what you'll want to share with me.
I think about what God will plan for us.
I used to pine and long for what wasn't there.
I used to wish and dream, and miss what was in front of my face.
I used to walk by those that needed me most.
I now know my task at hand.
I now know what I must be doing.
I now know Who sent me here.
I can be patient.
I can wait on God.
I can learn, and study His Word.
He sees me when I cry.
He sees me when I'm alone.
He sees me and is with me always, so, I'm never really alone.

A New Dress
I am for bringing dresses back -- and I'm NOT talking about those mini dresses that don't even cover my chihuahua! Dresses are an element of femininity that seems to be slightly lost today. Come on girls, when you head out of the house, do you really grab that skirt? Or do head for your trusty pair of jeans? Please understand that I'm not bashing jeans -- I have a closet full of well worn, well loved jeans -- but when all we wear are split legs what happens to that special sense of femininity that belongs to us? And when we do wear dresses, is it really because the dress is more modest? I can't tell you how many times I've come across some girl who is actually wearing a dress, but the dress was anything BUT modest.
There is a dress for every body type, and ladies, they really are comfortable if you take the time to look. What's wrong with wanting to feel like the princesses we are? I personally favor floor length dresses, but if you prefer knee length that's fine too. I say getting you into a dress is the first step. I literally have 20 skirts and at least 10 dresses. Dresses are free moving, and add an element of mystery. Jazz it up with different scarves, cinch it with a belt, add flavor with crazy tights -- one dress can go a looooooooooong way!
I'm known for wearing skirts ALL THE TIME, and everywhere. One Wednesday I went to youth group and I actually decided to wear a pair of jeans. Nobody recognized me, and unfortunately I got more than a few "looks" from the guys. Again, I'm not saying that pants, jeans or even shorts are always immodest, but the simple fact that changing into skirts once in a while creates a whole new level of modesty.
I am a proponent of the dress because it shows the world that we're not afraid of being what we are -- women. We used to be call the "gentler sex" and that was a compliment! We were what brought mercy and compassion into our dealings with people. Now, I'm not saying ALL women are bathtubs overflowing with mercy and compassion (one of my less flattering nicknames at home is "Merciless") but we have lost this attribute so drastically that it's frightening.

Wake Up
"Lord let Your sleeping giant rise
Catch the demons by surprise
Holy nations sanctify
Let this be our battle cry
Ready yourself, Ready yourself
Let us shine the light of Jesus in the darkest night
Ready yourself, Ready yourself
May the powers of darkness tremble as our praises rise"
-- Until the Whole World Hears -- Casting Crowns
This is my cry, O Church. You are a sleeping Giant! Wake-up! Arise! With our faith in God, none can stand against us! We only defeat ourselves when we bite our tongues and cease to speak out! Should death find us -- Halleluya -- Praise God that we'd be granted His highest glory, martyrdom! Stand-up! Be silent no longer. Be examples for this lost world.
"Who's gonna fight for what's right?
Who's gonna help us survive?
We're in the fight of our lives
And we're not ready to die
Who's gonna fight for the weak?
Who's gonna make 'em believe?
I've got a hero, I've got a hero
Living in me
I'm gonna fight for what's right
Today I'm speaking my mind
And if it kills me tonight
I will be ready to die"
-- Hero -- Skillet
Be silent no longer, O sleeping Church. Stand up so that I may know who you are amongst the hiding shams and cons. Let me know what you stand for and why. Who are you? Are you willing to die for what you believe in?

Repercussions
"Come on! If anything, you're the only one it'll hurt."
This is a common lie that the world shoves down our throats. That what we do only affects ourselves. What we do, what we say affects everyone who hears us and everyone who sees us.
I'm sure you remember that kid in second grade that stole your animal crackers. What that person did affected you -- whether you knew it or not. Habbits, speach patterns make you who you are. So, as Christians, what kind of representative are you being?
Call me old fashioned, but I love watching old movies where the men opened doors, pulled out chairs, and stood up when a lady entered the room. That behavior had largely been lost today. Wouldn't it be a shock if a guy opened a car door for a girl? What about girls? We used to think keeping a home presentable was a joy! We used to back our men instead of tell them how we think things should be run...
Our behavior with the people who know us is just as important as our behavior with strangers. By no means can we pretend to be perfect, but under no circumstances is there EVER an excuse to not try our utmost to be representatives of Christ. I do not care if you are a quadriplegic or a 14 year-old that had a bad day at school; there is no excuse for not behaving in a Christ-like manner.
The question "What would Jesus do?" sounds juvenile doesn't it? We say, "That's just for kids," to justify our listening to music that has bad language or movies that have inappropriate scenes. We say, "It's not that bad," when we hear a bad word or see someone kiss for just a little too long. GOD HATES ALL SIN. If we could learn to hate sin as much as God does, could you imagine what we would be like?
Some would say that this is an impossible standard. I say, "Why?" We have to look at our lives and our world and examine our hearts to find our true love. Do we honor and respect and love God to the point that we do not listen to songs that have the "D-word" in them -- even if it's only once? Do we not watch TV shows that are good, but the commercials in between ought to be rated pg-13 at the least?
We must not only "keep out of the bad" but we must also go out of our way to do good! --
Matthew 5:46-48 "For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing {than others?} Do not even the Gentiles do the same? Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect."--
Do you know the lady down the street? Maybe she needs help with her lawn. Do you know that kid in Algebra class that needs a little help studying? The elder is an example to the younger, and, youth, be such amazing examples that the elder must see you and take note.
Where do your loyalties truly lie? And whom owns the whole of your heart?

Hold My Heart -- Tenth Avenue North
How long must I pray, must I pray to You?
How long must I wait, must I wait for You?
How long 'til I see Your face, see You shining through?
I'm on my knees, begging You to notice me.
I'm on my knees, Father will you turn to me?
How long must I wait, must I wait for You?
How long 'til I see Your face, see You shining through?
I'm on my knees, begging You to notice me.
I'm on my knees, Father will you turn to me?
*One tear in the dropping rain,
One voice in the sea of pain
Could the maker of the stars
Hear the sound of my breakin' heart?
One light, that's all I am
Right now I can barely stand
If You're everything You say You are
Won't You come close and hold my heart
I've been so afraid, afraid to close my eyes
So much can slip away before I say goodbye.
But if there's no other way, I'm done asking why.
Cuz I'm on my knees, begging You to turn to me
I'm on my knees, Father will you run to me?
So many questions without answers, Your promises remain
I can't sleep but I'll take my chances to hear You call my name
To hear You call my name
*
Hold my heart, could you hold my heart?
Hold my heart.

The Abraham and Isaac Pradox
As humans we like to think that everything that we come across is meant to be ours. When in reality it is God's to do with has He sees fit. What are we doing worrying about God's possessions? He has everything under his thumb. I understand that since -- unlike Him -- we cannot see the end from the beginning we become concerned about the well being of our things and, even more importantly, the people we come across. Let me try to adequately convey this idea: EVERYTHING IS GOD'S. He has merely allowed you to take care of everything as best as you can. Once you understand that God really is watching and making sure things go according to His Will, you will gain such a peace of mind...
Now, when I say everything is God's, I mean EVERYTHING!!!! Your house, your car, your kids, your spouse -- EVERYONE and EVERYTHING! Are you going to willingly allow God to have complete control over everything? The key is "willing." God is in control of everything on earth -- thank goodness -- whether you like it or not! Are you willing to allow God to take over and do whatever He has planned no matter how "unfair" "strange" or "wrong" it seems? Are you willing to be like the Abraham of Genesis 22 and travel the journey to sacrifice your own son because God asked it of you? Are you willing to allow your children to go to a dangerous country and be killed for Christ because it was the Lords will? Are you willing to allow God to have such control over your life, possessions and family so that no matter what happens, you know you will be blessed for obeying? Let go of the authority you think you have, and let the Lord of all take over.

That Which is Right...
I was just thinking today, most people (Christians I mean) know what is right, but seldom do it. If you were to walk up to someone and ask, "Is steeling right?" they would almost certainly answer no. But if you ask them if they have ever stolen, they would have to answer, "Yes."
How about a less extreme example? NOT doing what is right is the same as doing something wrong. Finding an abandoned wallet and NOT turning it in is just as bad as taking it for yourself.
My greatest struggle is knowing what I must do (e.g. giving a word of encouragement to someone) but suddenly getting so nervous that I don't do it. I KNOW that the Lord has asked me to do this simple thing, but fear has drummed me out of obedience. This is when I must remind myself that, "The Lord is my Rock and my Salvation. When He is with us, who can be against us? Whom then shall I fear?"
I must continually work on my courage and strength as well as my wisdom, for what can I do if I am unable to do what I know God has called me to do. And what can I do if I have the ability to do, but I do not know what God is asking of me? Illustration? What good am I if I am trying to get to the hospital and my car does not work (strength and courage). Or what good am I if my car is working, but I do not know where the hospital is (wisdom).
This is one of my journeys, and believe me, I have a loooooooooong way to go. But I pray and strive to be all that I can for my Lord.

10 Questions
The following is a response to “Anti-gag”
First, thanks for your interest. I decided to answer your questions in the hopes that you really are seeking God. If not, then I hope everyone else will appreciate my answers.
For everyone else, last night a link to an anti-christian video was posted in the comments section of my blog. Upon watching the video I was both disappointed and glad at the same time. I was disappointed because I couldn’t believe that someone actually thought this was logic, and glad because I had a chunk of meat to dig my teeth into. The video posed 10 questions in an attempt to prove that God is imaginary.
All right, my friends. I have an answer to every single one of those questions...
I would first like to point out that the video begins with a vain attempt to induce pride in the viewer by making the claim that, “You have all the answers. You have the ability to answer these questions because you have knowledge and power,” (sounds like they might believe in God after all.) The truth is that we are tiny human specks in the universe and to think that we might have the knowledge to understand and explain everything there is to know: 1) in the universe and 2) about God, is ludicrous... But on with the questions.
Question number 1) "Why won’t God heal amputees?"
Why won’t God heal the flu? Why won’t God heal warts? How about this: why should He heal anybody? Does God obey our whims? How dare you try to make the King of the Universe your personal vending machine! Just because someone has an amputation doesn’t mean that God won’t give them a better life in all eternity. To look at the momentary discomfort of any human being and say, “Therefore, that is proof that God doesn’t exist,” is ridiculous. This life is so infinitesimally short that to spend it complaining to God is a waste!
Question number 2) "Why are there so many starving people in our world?"
I suppose the author of this video would prefer that God to zap food into people’s mouths, once again betraying their ignorance of what God’s purpose is. While I would not disagree that there are some instances where there are individuals that are having very difficult times providing for themselves, most instances where there is mass starvation is caused by plague, natural disaster or an oppressive government, because we have plenty of land and plenty of food that we can get. Once again, since God is a god of eternity, to look at the temporary discomfort during the few years that we live on this earth and say, “Therefore, there is no God,” is sheer lunacy. The author would do better spending a little time learning about who God is and what He wants from us rather that assuming that He’s a magic genie that should jump up and dance every time we demand it.
Question number 3) "Why does God allow the death of so many innocent people?"
Once you show me someone who is truly innocent, then I will answer your question. No one on this earth is pure and innocent in the eyes of Almighty God. Every single person on the planet is fallen and sinful. The video puts up the points of:
Exodus 35:2, “For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a holy {day,} a sabbath of complete rest to the LORD; whoever does any work on it shall be put to death.”
God was making a point that He is to be obeyed. Anyone who disobeys this simple commandments should be put to death because since they cannot be trusted to do this simple thing how can they be trusted to obey a greater thing?
Deuteronomy 21:18-21 Disobedient youth are to be put to death.
Once again, God understood that if a child is continually disobedient, then that child will be disobedient through adulthood and may entice others to be disobedient as well. This would quickly corrupt the society.
Leviticus 20:13, “If {there is} a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their blood-guiltiness is upon them.”
Once again, as with the previous section, God is dealing with disobedience. Homosexuality is condemned in the Bible because it is an attack on the institution of the family and marriage. God knows that without these pillars to uphold society, society is doomed to collapse.
Deuteronomy 22:13-21 Girls that are not found to be virgins when they marry are to be put to death.
Once again, harlotry corrupts a society, just open up your high-school history book an take a look! God does account for rape and incest (in which case the girl is not to be put to death). But God understands that once the people no longer sanctify virginity, the society is headed for disaster!
Question number 4) "Why does the Bible contain so much anti-scientific nonsense?"
Once again, show me a verse in the Bible that is truly nonsense. The video firsts tries to create an assumption that God might be against technology -- which He is not! God gave humanity the ability to learn, improve and invent. The video then tries to put up “evidence” of unscientific verses:
“God did not create the world in 6 literal days 6,000 years ago.”
(I could devote an entire blog to proving this point, but I’ll try to keep it brief.) Any student of physics understands that matter, space, time and energy were all created at the same time and yes, they were CREATED. Our universe’s law of entropy demands that there had to have been a creation event some time in the past. How far in the past? Well, I could give hundreds of examples that would demonstrate irrefutable evidence for a young earth, but here are just two: first, we are loosing our moon (it used to be closer to us,) and second, the Earth is moving farther away from the sun (we also used to be closer.) These facts rule out that our solar system is billions of years old since as little as 100,000 years ago the radiation from the Sun would make the earth uninhabitable and the moon so close that land tides would destroy all life on earth.
“There was never a worldwide flood that covered Mount Everest.”
You are assuming there was a Mount Everest that needed to be covered. Let me first point out that students of geology agree that there had to have been a massive flood that covered the earth to create the observable evidence that we have today. Before the Flood, the earth was relatively flat, but when the crevasses in the ocean (check any ocean floor map) opened up, the pressure of the water caused the ocean floor to get lower and the mountains to get higher. Mount Everest didn’t exist until after he Flood.
“Jonah did not live inside a fishes stomach for 3 days.”
Once again, you are assuming that Jonah lived. No where in the Bible does it say that Jonah lived in the fish’s belly. Jonah died and was resurrected – an Old Testament foreshadowing of Jesus being buried and resurrected.
“God did not create Adam from a handful of dust.”
Prove he didn’t. Since it is so easy to check out so many facts presented in the Bible, and therefore demonstrate that God can be trusted, it is therefore logical to also trust Him in the areas that we cannot check out.
Question number 5) “Why is God such a huge proponent of slavery in the Bible.”
I don’t know what Bible your reading, but simply because the Bible documents the existence of slavery in no way means that God approves of it. The Bible is a history book; that’d be like saying since Abraham Lincoln talked about slavery he was a proponent of it -- now do you see how this is ridiculous? Some people point out that since Paul regulated slavery (rather than abolishing it) he must therefore have approved of it; Let me say that in no way is Paul approving of slavery -- the Government at the time is the one that mandated slavery (once again an oppressive government.) So, Paul said “you know what, since you are a slave, why not make the best of it? Become a Christian and receive the gift of eternal life, and maybe along the way your master will become saved too, since your life is such a great example.” The Old Testament account of Joseph, who started out as a slave but then became the ruler of all Egypt and got the Pharaoh saved as well, would be a good example.
Question number 6) “Why didn’t any of Jesus’ miracles in the Bible leave behind any evidence?”
Interesting question, well, some of his miracles were healing people, those people then became believers, who influenced others around them to also become believers so that by today we have over one Billion Christians -- if that’s not evidence, I don’t know what you’re looking for -- Jesus’ footprints from walking on water?
Question number 7) “Why do bad things happen to good people.”
Bad things happen to everybody, but once again, show me someone who is truly good. There is no such thing as “good on the whole” or “basically good”; bad things and good things happen. What I’d really like to know is why good things happen to bad people? There are some evil, evil people out there that are BILLIONAIRES! This life happens the way it happens, but ultimately we’re going to end up face to face with a God who is going to judge our souls and our hearts. At that point you’re going to find our just how good you think you are verses how good God thinks you are.
Question number 8) “How do you explain the fact that Jesus has never appeared to you?”
Speak for yourself. Once again the author has mistaken that since Jesus has not appeared to him, Jesus therefore hasn’t appeared to anyone. The fact is that after the resurrection, Jesus appeared to tens of thousands of people, and when he appears bodily again, it will be to end the world and cast all unbelievers into the lake of fire. I would think that as an unbeliever, the author should be careful what he is asking for. The mistake is also made in the assumption that the only way Jesus could prove his existence to anyone is to appear bodily. Again, this is foolish. We are all aware of the existence of people we’ve never met (both contemporary and historical) because of the tangible evidence of their existence. I suppose the author might deny the existence of John F. Kennedy on the same grounds.
Question number 9) “Why would Jesus want you to eat His body and drink His blood?”
Again, I’d like to know what Bible you are reading because Jesus clearly points out the symbolic nature of the bread which was BREAD and the wine which was WINE -- not flesh and not blood. The symbolic nature is that when you eat bread and drink wine OR eat an apple or have a drink of water, you are putting something inside your body. It is inside you, it is now part of you, and will now work through you -- that is what Jesus wants. He doesn’t just want us to know about Him or be friends with Him; He wants to be inside us; He wants to be so much a part of our lives that we consume Him so that He is inside of us and therefore, controlling and motivating us so that our actions reflect this fact.
Question number 10) “Why do Christians get divorced at the same rate as non-Christians?
The reason is because most of the people claiming to be Christians today are not truly Christians. The word “Christian” means to be “Christ-like” anyone who is like Christ would not get a divorce. Now some of these people might be saved, but please, be careful when you call them Christians. In the instance of a genuine, true Christian that gets in a divorce, I’d like to take a look at their spouse and see just how hard-hearted that person might have been. When you have two people that are totally committed -- totally and thoroughly committed to the will of Christ and that spend daily devotions together seeking the will of God and praying together, the statistics on divorce are less than 1 in 2000 -- not even one tenth of one percent!
A Frightening Realization
My father just gave a frighteningly real thought. A lot of this won't make sense to most people, but don't worry. I'll elaborate in another post...
Gen. 6:4 "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore {children} to them. Those were the mighty men who {were} of old, men of renown."
Those of you who have heard me speak, know I talk about Nephilim a lot. What are "Nephilim"? Nephilim are a hybrid of fallen angel and human. This hybrid became what we know of a demons. (That's the short version.)
Remember my post on vampires? Most would say that a vampire is a demon; I would say that might be incorrect. Vampires are beautiful, evil creatures. I would say, that vampires are fallen angels.
Where am I going with this. Today's female society is so obsessively consumed with vampires -- I can't tell you how many young girls I know that would give ANYTHING to have a romance with a vampire! -- that it would be the easiest thing in the world for the fallen angels to rise up again and (as in Genesis) "come in to the daughters of men."
Daniel 2:33b "partly of iron and partly of baked clay."
Daniel 2:43 "And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay. "
This is the scene where Daniel gives and interprets the dream of Nebuchadnezzar. The illustration "iron and clay" represents a mixture of man (iron) and... fallen angels and Nephilim (clay).
Our obsession with vampires is deliberate. It is designed to convince young girls that it's okay to "love" that which is most evil. It's okay to have children with that which is not human. What the most frightening thing is, is that even Christians have fallen for it...

Angel
Wings,
They pass me by so often.
Soft feathers, whiter than moonlight
Dance in the gentle breeze.
Dark eyes follow my motions as he watches for danger.
A Shadow darts outside my view,
But nothing escapes his.
He launches himself into the air,
A beacon of hope against a black sky.
Pulling out a mighty sword that shines in his brightness.
The Shadow flees at the sight of God's enforcer.
Content that peace has been restored, he alights upon a roof top.
All to my unaware, I walk down the dark pavement
The Stars are my only guide.
Streetlights illuminate what I think is to be seen,
But my angel dwells in invisible shade.
I turn a corner, and he takes off once again, this time alighting by my side.
He too walks, and listens to my words
Though I think none can hear.
I whisper my prayers, and I sing my hymns
And I think that I am alone.
When I reach my home, I crawl below blankets to sleep.
Little do I realize a one-angle-army, sits on my sill to protect my dreams...

Evil Heart
What is the heart,
But a wicked lump of pulsating flesh?
It lies;
It deceives;
It carries us to our doom.
Why then do we morn the loos?
The loss, the freezing, the breaking of a heart?
Would we not be happier
If we had no heart?
No more arguing, deception or worry --
For we'd have no sick, twisted, and wicked heart.
The answer, my friends, it that
We are one and the same.
To carve out our hearts --
To cease its beating,
Would kill our very soul.
How then can we live?
How can we survive?
Knowing there is no hope to separate us from ourselves?
None, my friends, there is no hope --
We cannot do it by ourselves.
Why then keep living?
Why then keep trying?
Nothing will last. Our works are in vain!
Yes, it's true, but...
If you want your evil heart slain
There is one remedy.
Pray tell, what can it be?
Save my soul from this wicked me!
Drive two nails into your palms
And one into each foot.
Be beaten until there is no flesh
And your bones shine right through.
Have thorns pressed upon your brow
Then hang from a wooden tree.
Only then will the price be paid
Only then will you be free.
Woe is me!
There is no hope!
To die this death?
Or live this joke?
What am I to do?
You could find someone who'd pay your price.
That you could live your life
With hope and light --
No longer would you fear!
Pray, who could I find?
What is his name?
That can save me in time?
His name is simple.
His name is true.
He goes by many things:
A King, A Shepherd, A Lamb.
I call him,
I AM.

An Epiphony!
What is purity? Everyone talks about it. Youth ministries obsess over it. But come on! Do we really even know what truly being "pure" is?
The first thing that we need to bring to mind, is that there are two parts of purity that are EQUALLY important: Physical and Emotional. Everyone talks about physical purity, but we seem to have forgotten about emotional purity.
NEWS FLASH: Guys and Girls are different! Bet you never saw that one coming. Girls are emotionally wired; Guys are physically wired. I am about to introduce a new thought... They are equally important. A girl getting emotionally attached to a guy is JUST AS WRONG as a guy having sex with a girl.
How in the world do I come to this conclusion? When a girl is emotionally attached to a guy, the whole world could be collapsing around her, but as long as she feels loved by that guy, she will not care -- they are joined in an extremely binding way. When a guy has sex with a girl, again, they are joined in nigh, unbreakable bonds! With all of our hacking on the young men of this society on remaining physically pure for their wives, we have forgotten to teach our ladies about emotional purity!
Remember our News Flash: Guys and Girls are different.
To our Men: When you tell a girl, "I love you," it means every bit as much, and gives just as big a thrill, as when she kisses you.
To our Ladies: When you give a guy an extra big hug, it means just as much as when he calls you, "Beautiful."
I propose that Emotional and Physical purity are interchangeably important. And once you learn to think in these terms, understanding the opposite gender becomes much easier...

First Fruits
We SAY God it the most important thing in our lives, but is He really? When God asks us for our "First Fruits" do we really give him the FIRST fruit or do we give him leftovers that are still good, but are yet still leftovers.
What am I talking about? I'm talking about our priorities. I mean our day-to-day priorities: watching TV with the family instead of doing that devotion you've been meaning to do for the bast month; texting your friends about what you're going to do instead of paying attention during a youth group or Sunday school lesson... Tiny decisions can eat up your time so that you either have nothing left for God or so little left that it's not really worth giving Him.
There's a reason God asks for your "First Fruits." This means before you do anything with your time, before you start your daily grind or get swept up in the million and one things you want to do, you see to it that you get to know the God that created you. This may mean cutting out 30 minutes of late-night computer time so that you can get up 30 minutes earlier the next day for your "quiet time."
A similar idea goes with tithing. You don't pay all your bills then take whatever's leftover and give it to the Church -- NO! The very first 10% of the money that touches your hand goes to the Church, then use whatever is left to pay the bills.
It's the extra effort you put into giving God the first of your everything that gains you the blessing. Your desire to please God first and foremost -- everything beyond that is secondary -- that shows what your priories truly are...

Set me free!
Sigh, sometimes I wish I could write about anything, but since this is a blog with a set topic...
I want to talk about testing. Sort of. I was just thinking how so often the only way to save something is to loose it. Like our redemption in Christ. The only way for us to save our souls is to completely hand it over to Jesus. I once heard from Dr. Dobson, "If you truly love something, let it go (set it free). If it comes back, it's yours; if not, then it was never yours in the first place." This is a fundamental concept for relationships.
If a mother is not allowing her child any room to grow and breath, that child is going to back away (e.g. dislike spending time with the mother, seclude himself etc.) As that child backs away -- trying to give himself some space -- the mother may react by clutching the child even tighter. As you can clearly see, this results in a downward spiral for both parent and child. If the mother truly loved the child, she would give him the space he needs. As a result, the child would feel no bitterness toward his mother and perhaps not mind spending the time his mother needs with him.
The same applies to all relationships: husband/wife, brother/sister, any 2-person relationship. The only way to really keep something is to give it up. As odd as it sounds, it's so true...

Hope
What is it that makes Christianity so different from all the other religions? What is it what makes Christianity a religion that true believers cannot turn away from?
This God is a God who loves you. This is a God who decided that giving you the opportunity to dwell with Him was worth the price of His live. The gift of Jesus Christ covers all sins and it is for anyone who will accept it. Anyone who knows that striving for perfection will always end in failure, understands that unless we are given mercy, we will perish.
God gave humanity freewill. The choice to do what's right, what wrong, to love God, or reject Him. God will never take away your freewill in the decision to accept His gift of life. The choice is in your hands. What will you choose?
- Because it's true. I know this seems like a petty argument, but no person in the history of the Earth has ever died for what they knew to be a lie. Plus, if it is true, it is impossible to prove it wrong!
- Christianity basically tells the human race, "You are evil people, worthy of eternal damnation, without hope of ever being able to save yourselves." No other religion puts an immovable death sentence on humanity; all other religions say that you must earn your way to paradise, your good deeds must "outweigh" your bad deeds.
- Christianity is the only religion that gives mercy and grace through a perfect sacrifice. This perfect gift through Jesus Christ is the only thing that can save us, for it is surely impossible for us to save ourselves. His unblemished sacrifice gave us mercy from our failures and grace that we may be princes and princesses in His kingdom.
This God is a God who loves you. This is a God who decided that giving you the opportunity to dwell with Him was worth the price of His live. The gift of Jesus Christ covers all sins and it is for anyone who will accept it. Decyfer Down
I just wanted to do a quick little post for those of you out there who are regulars O.O
I just discovered a band called "Decyfer Down". I was listening to the radio when their new song "Fading" came on. I had never heard them before and found myself loving their music. Decyfer Down is a Christian alternative metal/hard rock band. Musically they are very good, and they incorperate Christian themes into their lyrics. They have two CDs out, End of Grey and Crash.
I really enjoy this band, and for those of you who like this style of music and are looking for a Christian alternative, this is for you!

Strength
What good is strength?
It fades with age.
Strength of mind or of body.
When we are young all that matters is what we can do.
When we are old, we deem ourselves nothing
For nothing is all we can do.
What is the purpose of this thing called "strength"?
It cannot be eaten,
It cannot always save us.
It brings no joy,
It gives no hope.
Strength of mind does little good,
Unless we have the means to make our thoughts real.
For those who do not, it means nothing.
For those who do, they will pass away with nothing.
This thing called strength can do us no permanent good,
So then, why do we seek to be stronger? be greater?
Why do we seek strength?
For those who find it to push themselves up
They will leave as the weakest of all.
But...
But for those who understand,
For those who know what the true purpose of strength is,
They will know that strength is not so that we could save ourselves.
Nor even to save those around us.
The true purpose of strength...
Is so that we might cling to God all the tighter.
So that we may know him all the better.
Strength is so that we will not let go,
Not let go of Jesus the Christ.

What you see mayn't be what you get...
Girls like to know they are beautiful, but when the world declares something 100% fake, something impossible for a human girl to attain as "beautiful" girls will go to the extreme to be thought of as "beautiful."
When all the magazines staring young girls in the face show images of "what they should look like" is devastating. Young women must have a firm foundation in God, as not to be sucked into the lies.
Here is what truly goes on in a photo-shoot...

Dragons!
So I didn't get all of my fantasy bug out (I never will :) on that first fantasy post so I thought I'd do another of my favorites: Dragons!
Dragons come in many forms, even more than fairies! The main catagories would be:
- Eastern Dragon
- Western (or Heraldic) Dragon
- Metallic Dragon
- Coloric Dragon
- Habitatual Dragon
Western Dragons are by far the most famous and popular. They are the bat-winged, fire breathing menaces that eat beautiful damsels and hoard mountains of treasure. Never keep dragon treasure in your possession for extended periods of time, so much of the dragon's personality has been pored into his valuble that (if kept too long) will rub off you -- sometimes to the point where you become a dragon yourself. Western Dragons are vain and proud, but they cannot resist a good riddle. Their pride will not allow them to leave a question unanswered. Here are some of my favorite riddles:
(1)
Only one color but not one size,
Stuck at the bottom, yet easily flies.
Present in sun, but not in rain,
Doing no harm and feeling no pain.
(2)
What force and strength cannot get through
I with a gentle touch can do.
And many in the street would stand
Were I not a friend at hand.
(3)
In marble walls as white as milk,
Lined with skin as soft as silk,
Within a fountain crystal clear,
A golden apple does appear.
No doors are there to this stronghold-
Yet thieves break in and steel the gold.
(4)
You throw away the outside and cook the inside;
Then you eat the outside and throw away the inside.
What am I?
(5)
It occurs once in every minute
Twice in every moment
And yet never in one hundred thousand years.
(6)
What walks on 4 legs in the morning
2 legs in the afternoon
3 legs at night?
(7)
What has roots that nobody sees,
Is taller than trees.
Up, up is goes
And yet never grows?
(The answers will be posted in the comments below!)
Asian Dragons are not as "evil" as Western Dragons, but they are certainly wily! They will do nearly anything to accomplish their means. They are snobbish and think of us humans as being savage animals not worthy of their time.
Metalic Dragons are by far the most noble of the dragons. They are the secret preservers of peace and secret do-gooders. Both Metallic and Coloric dragons have the ability to change into a human form. This is how Metallic dragons can mingle with humans un-noticed.
Coloric Dragons are, without a doubt, the most evil, selfish, vile and devious of the dragons. They vary from cowardly evil to the devil's son. These dragons are born with one thought planted in their head, "How do I get what I want with out loosing my power?" All dragons have a thirst for freedom. The freedom of not having alliances, the freedom to go wherever they want, whenever they want without having to worry about anything. Coloric dragons want this freedom in a very self-serving way. They will promise their allegiance to your face to get ahead, then when you call upon them, they will desert!
Habitatual Dragons are great animals. Most cannot speak and are merely eating machines with a touch of the "magpie flu". They pillage and plunder to get to the fattest cows or tastiest children. If they get into a water system they water will gain a burning acidic taste. Some can breath fire, some can fly, some can do neither. These are the easiest dragons to deal with for although they can be tricky and sly, they do not have the same intelect as the other, "higher" species of dragon.

Dear Diary...
Journaling or keeping a prayer diary is an interesting way for a Christan to keep track of what the Lord is doing in his life. As humans we are very forgetful. By keeping a journal we can have a tangible record of our prayers. So often I've gone over my old written prayers and have found that a certain prayer had been answered very specifically or if I hadn't been praying for a certain person they might not be where they are. Biblically we can look at, personally my favorite prophet, Daniel. He was fasting and praying for his people for 3 weeks when The Angel of the Lord cam to him. The Angel said that He had been fighting the Prince of Persia for 3 weeks. One must wonder what would have happened if Daniel had stopped on day 20 or 19. Would the angel have gotten through? (Daniel 10)
It's really simple to keep a prayer journal. All you have to do is get a cheap notebook from the dollar store and a pen. For those who are writers (like me) perhaps you'd like to go "high end" and get a leather backed journal and a vintage quill to have all the fun you can while writing... Whenever you pray, grab your journal and write it down with the date. Later you can look back and see how the Lord used you or provided for you. It truly is amazing to see how the Lord works.
Write down your friends' or family's prayer requests, write down things you're thankful for, or write about what happened in your day. Save your journal so that one day you can give it your children. They will most certainly enjoy reading about what you went through when you were their age...
Thus, I encourage everyone, record your life. Record your prayers because it is truly beyond amazing to watch God work. It doesn't have to be regular or consistent. Just whenever you think of it, write down your prayers. Make lists of your dreams and goals, and watch them change and be fulfilled over the years...
