Hello, my name is Christine Ericson. This blog is so I might add my voice to the thousands of Christians who wish to speak out on their beliefs. I want to encourage those out there who, "have not bowed their knee to Baal," and to remind everyone that God's ultimate Will will be done.

Am I loved? pt. 1

What is love? As humans it is so important to know we are loved. So how does it come about that newly wed couples start out saying and being loved, but later end up getting a divorce because they no longer "feel" loved? How does it come about that children who grow up in a godly home can still walk out feeling "unloved"? The first thing you must remember is that love is a decision. You must decide to love this person whether or not you feel loved or want to love. Love has to be a decision otherwise how can we love our enemies as Jesus Himself commanded? Loving someone and liking someone are two very different aspects. But lets get back to the point...

Say you go to a foreign country and you do not speak the language. No matter how much the people want to help you, you will not be able to receive their aid. It is the same thing with feeling loved. There are many "love languages" that can be spoken and if two people are not speaking the same language, neither is going to feel loved. Knowing your languages and being able to see the languages in other people will make showing and receiving love simple. But you must make the decision to love, even if you don't want to, even if it doesn't make sense, or even if you don't think you have time.

In our families it is our job, as Christians, to be beacons of light, hope and love. Knowing the love languages takes most of the guess work out of giving love -- be it to your parents, siblings, spouse or friends. I am going to do a series of posts so that anyone can come and learn how to really say, "I love you," and have the person receive it.

Universal Healthcare

We are living in a world where government is god. If we just do what our politicians say we will have all of our needs met for us without any real effort on our part. But if we really look at government throughout history, it has always made situations worse. Evil men always seek places of power and will lie, cheat and steal to achieve their goals.

One of our current hubbubs is Nationalized Health care. Government providing all the means for everyone in America to receive health care sounds like a great idea, but what would it really do to the system? Watch this video for a brilliant illustration...

Books for Heart, Books for Soul

Recently I was introduced to the author, Leslie Ludy. I was doing a study that went through her book, "Authentic Beauty." As we went through the book I was exhilarated to find that it was written by a true advocate of purity. She gave true life illustrations (from her own life and the lives of other girls throughout history) and gave practical reasons and steps on how to become a "set apart person." Some of her books are definitely geared more towards girls, but she (and her husband) have also written books specifically for couples, young men and young women as well.

One of my personal favorites is, "His perfect Faithfulness." This book goes through Leslie and Eric Ludy's love story. How they met and how God used them and created the perfect love story for them. I strongly recommend any of their books to anyone who is interested in learning more about purity or feels the need for encouragement on their walk for purity.

Duct Tape

What is the binding, sticky stuff that holds relationships together? I'm talking about lifelong, marriage relationships. An amazing illustration by Pam Stenzel was that intercourse acted like duct tape.
When you wrap a long piece of duct tape around your arm the tape will hold on tight and not budge; however, if you rip off the duct tape bits of skin and flesh will go with it. When you try to use the duct tape again it will still be sticky, but not nearly as much as before. As you continue to reuse and reuse the tape, eventually, it will loose all stickiness. This illustrates why it is so important and vital to our marriage relationship that we only ever have intimacy with our spouse! Because not only will this relational binding loose all its stickiness, due to frequent reusing, but also the pain involved in tearing yourself away from other partners will be devastating.
